1920s Classic Film: Steamboat Willie

Take a break from the heat and stop in the I. Floyd Garrott Tenant House to watch one of the most loved Disney films of all time. Steamboat Willie was made in 1928 giving audiences a break from reality. This short film made Mickey Mouse famous and featured sound, which was new to film. Class- Baking Yeast Breads

Who can resist the wonderful aroma of warm, freshly baked breads? Leslie Martin Conwell introduces you to tips and tricks on making homemade yeast breads!  White and whole wheat flours will be used, along with ancient grains to enhance flavor. Techniques taught will include kneading, braiding, “no knead-style” breads, and dinner rolls. Class fee includes all materials and park admission.  Participants must pre-register. Class limited to 8 participants. $20 per person, includes park admission. Dairy Program

The introduction of electricity in the 1920s dramatically changed the way the farmer and the farmers wife processed their dairy products. Milking machines decreased the farmers labor and new refrigeration safely preserved milk for consumers. Homemakers turned to electric motors to separate, cream, and churn butter. Visit the I Floyd Garrott tenant house and test your skill at churning butter by hand and experience first hand the advantages of electrical power. FREE with park admission. 11:00am-3:00pm.

Farm Family Picnic

Bum Ditty Barn Dance Band

The Bum Ditty Barn Dance Band is an old-time string band based in Lafayette, Indiana. Robert Freeman (banjo & fiddle) is from St. Louis, MO., and started playing old-time music in high school. Cliff Harrison (fiddle & guitar) and Jesse Danner (guitar & banjo) are from Charleston, IL., and started listening to old-time music before they were born. The band's name gives you an idea of its style- a danceable old-time ensemble that conjures up the spirit of old barn dance programs. FREE with park admission. The band will play two shows, 11:30am-12:15pm and 12:45pm-1:30pm.

Join us for our annual Country Fair! Enjoy a fun day on The Farm, food, games, demonstrations, old fashioned car camping, the Gibson Farmhouse, and the renovated I. Floyd Garrott Tenant House, plus lots of family fun. Battle Ground Saddle Club will be on hand to show off different horse breeds and we will have trolley rides available. Our traditional pie eating contest will be at 12:00pm. $5 per car, plus park admission. 10:00am-4:00pm.
